This project is following the compendium. Is it a PC NPCs will only accept certain types of drop: weapons and spells mostly, but not general equipment, traits, etc. However, I have turned off that setting and the issue doesn't seem to arise. Are you using a Compendium-compatible sheet D& D 5th Edition by Roll20 and Shaped are compatible for 5e D& D, for instance, but Community is not. (or there is a procedural error, but you seem to have tested for the most common culprits) I am unable to duplicate a problem. Drag this to a character sheet that is toggled to 'NPC' mode, and all the relevant information for that Monster will be filled out. Once found, click and drag on the NPC name so that it creates a little named tile that follows along with your mouse. Because this is set up as a D&D game, you will see all of the officially recognized classes (excluding Blood Hunter. Run a search for the NPC you want to create from the Compendium tab. From the Wiki you cite it seems to imply that the issue should only come up if there is an open window.
